This cultural post deals with all four of the stated cultural competence objectives. It discusses the intangibleproducts of the rainforest--both economic and environmental ones. It also talks about the perspective of Latin American countries in how they regard the resource of rainforests. The social behaviors and values of Latin American countries are brought up in the discussion of developing countries' priorities. These values and the decisions made based on them then lead to changes in social phenomena.
In addition to meeting the objectives, I think this blog does a good job of including concrete facts and information that was missing in some of the other posts. By focusing my response on one of the four questions presented, I think I was able to provide a more in depth answer to the issue raised. I think I also did a good job of sharing facts and then interpretingthe significance of them as they pertained to the economic and social decisions a country makes. I looked at both the micro level and the macro level. I then also applied the conclusions drawn about Latin American countries to the United States and the entire world. Therefore, I think this blog did a good job of analyzinga social phenomenon from its smallest implications to its biggest in a step by step manner.
I enjoyed doing this blog post because it related to a topic I had heard about before, so I got to refresh my previous knowledge with new information that I then applied to the blog. I also liked the topic because it in itself was a good example of how one culture's issues and social dilemmas can relate to others'. Thus, this blog continued with my frequent theme of using another's culture to look more closely at one's own.
