I chose this cultural post because I feel it did a good job of meeting the specific goals for cultural competence. It addressed the products and perspectives objective by discussing briefly the relationship between sports and the general attitude of the population about the economy. I also raised the issue of social behaviors and values--not just in Spain but in the U.S. as well. I think this fact is part of why I liked this blog. It uses one social phenomenon and culture to turn the looking glass back at my own culture. I think this is one of the most important things about learning about other cultures; you can most understand yourself by comparing and evaluating yourself in relation to others. I think many of my blog responses touched on this topic of analyzing one's own culture through the learning of another culture. So this blog post is representative of the underlying themes of many of my posts.
I also think it is a good post because it includes links to other sources of information and it is also different than many of the other responses to the original topic. I would hope that these facts helped make it a more interesting contribution to the discussion.
