    Blog 1 Reflection

This blog shows the importance of food in Latin American and it being used as a source of bringing families together. Very different from American culture, there is value placed on mealtime and rarely will people in Spain miss eating with their family or friends. It is important to understand that this type of lifestyle would not work with people in American because we have been running and running for too long and don’t give relaxation time. There is a balance between food, work, and family so less frequently to families in Spain find themselves not resolving problems. Hispanic culture in generally has a lad back feel to it. One of the main differences between that and US culture is the priority we place on things. Understanding this will make traveling to a Spanish-speaking country easier to deal with culture differences with time and food.

    Blog 2 Reflection

This was my last entry for the Spanish culture blog. Throughout the semester it was interesting to learn about various aspects of Hispanic culture. In this particular blog, shows the importance of celebrating the history of a culture. In Spain, many celebrations are because of various saints from the Catholic religion. Each region of Spain, as with food, language, and appearance, celebrates different saints through offerings, parades, and parties. From this, I learned the lasting effects that religion has on culture in Spain. To a person who does not know the history of the country, they may think they are just a nation of parties. But if you examine the root and meaning behind these celebrations, the value that people in Spain hold for their rich, diverse history is understood. Learning a language is not just memorizing vocabulary and verb conjugations. To fully understand another language, the culture and the ideals that form that culture must be understood as well. It is important to have language and culture learning goes hand in hand. The purpose of these blogs is to help fulfill the second half of that statement.

These reflections should be in the body of the post.
